Paulo Freire’s Praxis: Combining Action and Reflection – #22 of 50 Things That Help Me Heal (video)

paulo freire

Praxis is putting theory into action.

But for Paulo Freire, praxis is really about how you put theory into action, and that is what blew my mind!

I have found a lot of my healing in politically charged works. Paulo Freire’s work being one of them. Deeply healing and mind/heart/womb transforming. I am so grateful for his work!

Praxis is the combination of reflection and action.

Reflection alone can become verbalism, and action alone becomes activism (acting without considering if it’s creating the results you want).

Praxis is cycling reflection and action so that you can make an impact but also have awareness and observations of your impact as well.

In Pedagogy of the Oppressed, Paulo Freire defines praxis as, “reflection and action upon the world in order to transform it.”
